INITIATIVEs

Honoring Kids Who Are Battling Cancer!

One of Gold Glove Charities initiatives is to honor kids who are battling cancer at different MiLB and Independent Professional Baseball venues throughout the midwest and south. In four short years, GGC has grown their partnerships from 3 baseball organizations in 2017 to 11 partnerships in 2020. Included in the 2020 schedule is the Birmingham Barons, Omaha Storm Chasers, Cleburne Railroaders, Fargo-Moorehead RedHawks, Mississippi Braves, Wichita Wind Surge, Kansas City T-Bones, Texas AirHogs, Chicago Dogs, Gary Railcats and the Schaumburg Boomers. During a GGC Night, local kids who are battling cancer will enjoy a tailgate, team meet/greet on the field, authentic game jersey, pregame introductions with their paired player/coach and much more. Each team member’s jersey dons the first name of an honoree on the back their jersey, signifying that they are playing, for that night, for their honoree.

Do you know of a kid who is battling cancer? Refer them to us so we may honor them at a future GGC event.

Mississippi Braves OF Greyson Jenista honoring Jake by wearing Jake’s name on the back of his Gold Glove Charities Night specialty jersey. These “Nights” are equally impactful upon team members, as many players maintain a relationship with their honoree for life! These bonds are a HUGE reason GGC created these baseball events.

GGC Night Testimonials

I have now seen firsthand how a Gold Glove Charities event transcends geography, market-size and level of professional sports. Mike Martin compassionately delivers a very real message that pediatric cancer affects us all and it is “our fight”. You don’t forget a Gold Glove Charities event, as it stays with you in a very impactful way.
— Pete Laven, Mississippi Braves GM

Gold Glove Charities has really helped open my eyes to the reality of pediatric cancer. What an amazing day at the ballpark to be able to hang out with the kids and their families! Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of bringing awareness to these precious lives! It has touched my heart deeply and am thankful to have been a part of it! I will always support Gold Glove Charities!
— Jim Bennett, FM RedHawks Manager

When you get woke up at 5am because your son is still excited about the night before. :) I could never say “Thank you” enough to Mike Martin, Sam Provenzano, Jamie Floyd and the Chicago Dogs for giving my son the night of his life!

Since my son’s diagnosis years ago, we were thrown into a new life of hurt, tears and emotional roller coasters. We had no idea of the new family waiting for us to find them. So much love, support and understanding. We are blessed.
— Jennnifer Rydeberg , Mother of Warrior Christopher

Honored to have joined #GoldGloveCharities & the Chicago Dogs this weekend, as they celebrated & gave children fighting cancer & their families the most unforgettable day on the baseball field! The players each got teamed up with a child and doted on them & played with them on the field for the entire day! I am so lucky to have witnessed such a special day and I loved singing for everyone!
— Jamie Floyd, Nashville C&W singer/songwriter

the impact on GGC

When we first started our GGC Nights in 2016, we anticipated the great impact the players would have upon our honorees. We even anticipated the impact the honorees would have upon the fans. However, watching the impact that these amazing kiddos and families have on the players and coaches has impacted GGC ten-fold. We have witnessed former and future MLB players and managers cast aside egos and routine, for at least one day, to make the kids the most important part of America’s game! This has inspired GGC to bring a GGC Night to even more stadiums each season!
